Top tips for helping your child prepare for standardised tests

Exam season is daunting for both parent and child. It is a stressful time and can be dealt with by preparing as best as possible. Here are top tips to help your child prepare for standardised tests.

Prepare for the obvious. Parents should enquire about basic information such as exam dates and mark them down in order to make a study schedule ahead of time. Furthermore, find out what’s on that test! Knowing what content is on there allows you to involve your child in classes such as ACT tuition UK, in order to get the help they may need to keep up to scratch with content.

Create a timetable: Staying organised will allow your child to spread out revision and homework and avoiding stressful meltdowns when things get too much. This also allows your child to indulge in their leisurely activities such as going out or even watching tv for some down time.

Create a good study environment: A clean, quiet space will allow better concentration when studying which will ensure better quality of work. Create a designated space to keep your child motivated as well as risking them sitting in bed and working!

Encourage quizzes, workbooks and educational games: This is important to keep them motivated and engaged. A textbook can get boring and your child will find no information is absorbed so switch it up a bit from time to time.

A healthy sleep schedule: Sleeping is more important than you think so keep screens away at night and push for them to get a sufficient amount of sleep per night in order to stay alert during the day.

Prepare healthy meals and snacks: Encourage brain food like grains and protein and keep them as far as you can from regular intake of refined sugars and unhealthy carbs and fats as it will do little to fuel the body and will end up making them feel sluggish.
