ARK Clearing Serum - An addition to my Skincare Routine
If you've read my previous post in which I've reviewed some skincare products, you would know that more reviews of beauty and skincare products would follow. In this post, I am talking about face serums, the correct way of using them and all the other important facts that generally you may not be aware of.
Beauty products such as serums that have a thinner consistency and so, they should always be used BEFORE the products with a thicker consistency such as moisturisers. That's because the skincare products with a thicker consistency do not let the other products penetrate inside the skin, making the use of even the most expensive face serums almost redundant. Also, not following the right pattern of using the skincare products would be just like you're washing away the product in a sink. Hence, a waste of both time and money.
Serums have been developed to cater to various skin concerns and since they are rich in nutrients, they absorb into the skin and do wonders on the face. Lots of different serums can be seen in the market and they have been developed for different purposes such as to brighten the face and to prevent acne from occurring, thus making the skin healthier.
They're available both water and oil based and are mostly in the gel form so they don't leave the face feeling gummy. There are lots and lots of options available in the market but personally I prefer the beauty products that are vegan friendly and those that are made with natural ingredients.

I've been trying the ARK clearing serum since more than 4 weeks now. The idea behind using this skincare product was to combat my skin concern with regards to pores and blemishes on the face. Generally, my skin is healthy but I just wanted to work on the pores and reduce the redness on my cheeks.
ARK skin perfector clearing serum (£45) has been formulated for all ages and comes in a 30ml glass bottle.
To attain best results, I would advise using the product by applying it directly to your blemishes after cleansing and toning (if applicable) your face and then use your finger tips to spread it out. Make sure to shake it well before every use. However, you must make sure that there is a gap between these steps. See the steps below for a better understanding.
- Cleanse the face and wait for 1 minute
- Tone the face and wait for 3 minutes
- Apply the serum and wait for 3 minutes
- The last step is to moisturise
Once the serum has been applied, wait for some time to let it completely absorb in the skin and do its magic and then apply your moisturiser, if you want. Using the moisturiser completely depends on the weather and the type of your skin.
Since I have a combination skin, I sometimes do not apply moisturiser on my entire face but just use it on the areas that seem flaky and require attention. However, since winter has approached, I've noticed that I need to start moisturising the whole face now. For me, its the area around my nostrils and under the eye that becomes dry after cleansing.
The ARK clearing serum has been formulated to clear the skin from congestion and reduce excess oil. Since the formula is plant based, it contains Margosa leaf extract which is known to be an anti-acne ingredient that is not just meant to draw imperfections but to tightens pores and prevent further blemishes from appearing. It also aims to target breakouts and redness by regulating sebum and refines complexion for a clear skin.
So far with its usage, I've observed my pores have tightened and have become smaller in size. There hasn't been much difference in redness or otherwise how my face used to be. However, I've observed that generally when I wake up, the face looks clear but during the day it starts showing redness. I have also heard that serums do take some time to really start showing their results so you really need to be patient to see the positive result.
